Re: Newborn narrator

Koz, Sorry, I guess I wasn't particularly clear either. No, I couldn't really hear the MMMM, but I'll try a couple of different headphones and see what I come up with. And yeah, I was trusting you on it since I couldn't really get past the hiss. I'll check the time and go through the steps you just ...

Re: Newborn narrator

Koz, So is that last 120HzTone attachment the sound from the Test2 I sent? If so, I might be boned or have to start moving around the house again. And is the BananaBread.xml what I should use as opposed to the rolloff one in the list you gave me? Since I've gotten this far with it, maybe I'll pull t...

Re: Newborn narrator

I'll keep working on my room, and do as little as possible in post. Koz, thank you so very much. I honestly can't tell you how much this means to me. When my friend (a self-published author) asked me to do this, at first I was like "Oh, yeah, that'd be great! I used to read novels to my wife at...

Re: Newborn narrator

Great, thanks for all the help. Glad to hear I don't need much post-processing. Do you have any suggestions on anything to do now that the noise problem/ACX check is all in line?

Re: Newborn narrator

Nope. I've got just a ceiling fan with a light in there but am keeping it off. Dressing light, tho it's only hitting about 90 here (and my wife likes the AC at 82) :).

Re: Newborn narrator

Ok, I'll try that. But I double-checked and turned the AC off. I even turned the ceiling fan in the downstairs room off. Again, I'm in a sub-division and could be pulling in noise from someone else's AC? I don't think my fridge is any noisier than average and it's a floor down and offset. And the fi...

Re: Newborn narrator

Yeah, PJTest2.wav is without any processing.

I appreciate the info. It's all good to know. This narration I'm doing is for a friend, and if it works out, the first thing I'll invest in will be a new mic setup.

Also, good to know about the Mac and little noise. Might try putting it back in there.

Re: Newborn narrator

Koz, Ok, here's a new raw file. I've also attached my ACX check. Just out of curiosity (fixing my ignorance) what's the difference between the two Noise Floor readings? I've got a real book under the microphone, and a several-folded up towel under that now. My computer is out of the closet, as far a...

Re: Newborn narrator

Koz, I'm doing the recording on the second floor of my house. We have dual zone AC, and I turned off the upstairs one, but I don't think I did the downstairs. And yeah, the AC/furnace fans are right above my head up there. So I'll make sure I turn both of those off today and try it. No light or ceil...

Re: Newborn narrator

Koz, I can't thank you enough for all your help! I've left as much clothes in the closet as I can and still fit in there, but I think I'll put up a blanket on the back wall that I'm facing. If I'm still picking up noise, I'll figure out a way to hang a blanket over the top of the closet that will dr...
