How to install Nyquist noisegate on my macOS High Sierra 10.13.16

Hi! I use a mac but am a recent switcher from PC and struggling...I want to install the nyquist noise gate plug-in, but so far can only download it, and can't get it into the plug-ins folder (as instructed by the wiki) - I mean this one ~/Library/Application Support/audacity/Plug-Ins. I can find the...

Re: Unable to play after upgrade?

Hi all, I have been having the exact same problem since upgrading to 2.1.3, using Windows 10. I have been finding that I have to hit the space key sometimes twice (bashing it a bit preferably) to get it to play the track! It really doesn't want to....then today, I'm unable to get the track to play a...

Re: Passing the ACX test, BUT does it sound any good?

I'm waiting for Steve's leap..it's surely only a matter of time. I see that ACX in their youtube videos say DO NOT USE DE-ESSERS! - amongst other things. They're also anti noise-reduction/removal.. They say in the right recording environment only 3 mastering steps are required - EQ, Compression, Nor...

Re: Passing the ACX test, BUT does it sound any good?

So actually eliminating one hardware step is an advance. Works for me. So we don't need the De-ESS step in favor of a gentle equalizer? Do you have such an equalizer? Koz Ok, well perhaps we're getting somewhere. I need to learn about equalization...BUT thanks to you guys I am a lot further down th...

Re: Passing the ACX test, BUT does it sound any good?

Thanks everyone.

What's the verdict, ditch the eyeball?

I'll have a go at that process as you suggest, Koz, and report back.

Fortnight's hols imminent so I may have to do this on my return.

Re: Passing the ACX test, BUT does it sound any good?

It makes me completely insane when somebody with a good voice and terrific presentation (the hard parts) encounters one stupid problem and the whole thing falls apart. Koz Koz I think I love you! Yeah...well I'm glad to hear questions about the room...I had assumed it was the room. I have covered i...

Re: Passing the ACX test, BUT does it sound any good?

Hey y'all....sorry for the absence. I had to have a sanity break. And I had to do some work ;) Firstly, yes I am speaking to the yellow dot! Hmm, I can upload a without-eyeball sample, but it ain't pretty. I shall do that tmrw. The eyeball, to me, is a miracle-worker in terms of treating small bathr...

Re: Passing the ACX test, BUT does it sound any good?

What sort of pop shields are you using?
I have a Kaotica eyeball, which has helped a lot with the (highly reflective)room treatment, and I've got the standard Rode pop filter (came with the NT1A) in front of that. Bad idea?

Re: Passing the ACX test, BUT does it sound any good?

Here's another recording of the same piece, this time I've left the headphones outside and I've taken an extra step back from the mic. To me, it sounds reasonable, quieter (peaking at -15) but not drilling any holes in wood, methinks? How's the room tone this time? She sat dbl dist no fones.wav Your...

Re: Passing the ACX test, BUT does it sound any good?

Aha! Yet another thing I hadn't thought of! I'm going to try recording my super-sibilant piece again, with a bit more distance and minus the earmuffs ;)
