I think I have the answer though - I'm just going to go back to using the line in on my computer. If that doesn't work out then I guess I'll need to update my hardware.

Sound card works fine - the only problem is that I thought there would be significant signal degradation taking the stereo out from the board, and condensing to the 1/8inch(?) line in on my computer. Thank you for the reply Koz. Feedback was our original guess (I'll have to look into that internal loop scenario). However, I don't think that's the problem - here's why.
