5/28 Wasn't able to solve problem.......but I did reverse the iMac and MBP and the problem went away!!!!!! I'm wondering if there isn't an App or a peripheral on the iMac that could be causing it. Thanks again.

I had exactly the same problem!!!! The only way I got around it was to dump the file and start over, so, I'm sure it was something I did wrong, as I
remember being confused at the time. (That's normal when you're a senile citizen.)

I'm using Audacity 2.1.2.0 on my iMac with sierra 10.12.3. I'm getting a number of "Unexpectedly Quit" situations....about 1 in 10. It happens when I'm working with files that are usually over 30 minutes in length, and only when copying the file INTO Audacity, never when exporting the completed file...
