Re: hum with 1400 Hz and split up

okay, intermodulation I won't understand by tomorrow but that's what this is and how these bands split up further. Many thanks for the sound sample, as you say the bubbly noises don't sound so nice, so I'll leave this out though I've tried inverting and mixing myself and it's good to know one can do...

hum with 1400 Hz and split up

Hi, the de-hum from here https://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?p=341803#p341803 took care of most noises but there is one recording with a different spectrum where there is a superimposed hum with bands at 1400, 2800, 4200 ... Hz, each time split up into several bands that are close to 100 Hz...

Re: What is this noise? (image)

this is so cool. a private plugin. thank you so much, Trebor! : ) the recording location is rural India with power outages and such and minimal portable equipment, so not much hope of troubleshooting anything from the recording side. There are a few recordings that have had this on and off and it di...

Re: What is this noise? (image)

Wow that would be really cool. That kind of collateral damage is much better. Are you using an extra plugin? Notch Filter doesn't do the same when entering 50.68 Hz and going down to 0.1 with Q. (I don't understand what I'm doing, I understand Hz but not Q and don't know the frequencies of harmonics...

What is this noise? (image)

Hi, what is this noise called, and is there a way to remove it? This is spoken word. using Audacity 2.1.2 on macbook pro running 10.12 Sierra. If you have an idea what could cause this, info is appreciated as well. I have no access to the setup. My guess is, there is a mixer, some fairly ok mics plu...

Re: Converting audio to text

There are some reports this process does not work out of the box on Mavericks and Yosemite because Dictation mutes all audio except an active microphone. If so, try the workaround on http://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/92613/use-mac-os-x-dictation-on-a-file . Gale audio to text with Audacity/S...

Re: iMic gives "Error while opening sound device"

Thanks, this was good. Mono had not worked either, forgotten to post that. The Lapel mic is also explicitly stereo with L and R sides and has the two rings on the connector too. With the Portable Settings folder everything was reset, and the iMic did not show up at all as a choice in the popup. I re...
