Even records stereo perfectly.
I did have to turn down the volume as was pointed out here.
And about not hearing what you record - I got an Y-splitter to correct that

Sorry to bump this thread but I tried what was suggested (minijack cable), and for me it works very well!
Even records stereo perfectly.
