Re: WAV export amplified and distorted - sometimes
Well, I suspected the sweeps would have to be retaken. But I can do that easy enough. Just have to wait for some quiet time in this house (maybe I'll send everyone else to the movies). Steve, my thanks to you and Koz for the insight and help. I'm just sorry (again, for principle's sake) that I could...

Re: WAV export amplified and distorted - sometimes
You can't just run the sweep again? We've been how many days fixing this? Each patch step invites mistakes. Of course, I never make mistakes like this, but not everybody is so lucky. I can do it again, Koz. But at this point it's a matter of principle! :( If you have A and C, then at one time you m...

Re: WAV export amplified and distorted - sometimes
Hmm, didn't seem to work. I am attaching two images. The first contains (for real) the two stereo tracks that started this whole thing. The upper track is the "clean" capture (A), and the lower track is what happened when I did the original Export while A nd B (now lost for good) were up i...

Re: WAV export amplified and distorted - sometimes
A-ha! I think this will work. I have A and C (which is A+B), all in their original timelines. So if I open a new Project, import A and C into it, invert A and then Export the whole thing, I should get B back. Sound right?

Re: WAV export amplified and distorted - sometimes
Since I really like simplicity, I would have exported the first performance, cleared the decks and then captured and exported the second one. You'll be doing something like that anyway because it's crystal clear the top and bottom tests are not coincident, hence the comb effect. That's actually wha...

Re: WAV export amplified and distorted - sometimes
@Koz I think what Tony has done is to record one track with the "Right Channel control sweep from his audio system" + "microphone (no signal), and in the same Audacity project recorded a second track with "Left Channel control sweep from his audio system" + "microphone...

Re: WAV export amplified and distorted - sometimes
Steve, this may be it, but it would be my own fault of course for not knowing the subtleties of Audacity. I did have the two captures open at the same time (I think), but I was under the impression that when I clicked in the one I wanted (and it highlights) that the Export would then just export tha...

Re: WAV export amplified and distorted - sometimes
Steve, it's a sweep at 44.1kHz, at 50% full amplitude, from 5Hz to 22kHz. The sweep lasts 90 seconds. It's in two separate tracks. One is left channel only with right channel mute; the other is the opposite.stevethefiddle wrote:What is the signal that you are recording? What frequency is it?

Re: WAV export amplified and distorted - sometimes
Koz, I am using the E-Mu 0404 as a two input device. The control sweep is being fed from my digital source device in my stereo set-up, through my stereo preamp, and from there to the power amp and speakers. The mic (a calibrated Behringer ECM8000) is set up to capture the speaker output; this is fed...

WAV export amplified and distorted - sometimes
Been using Audacity 1.26 on Win XP Pro SP2 for some time. I use it to capture signal sweeps from audio systems, with the signals later used by DRC for generating digital room correction files. Captures are done using an E-Mu 0404 USB device. One input port is used for the recording mic, the other fo...
