Figured it out, had to delete audacity_data, then re-install was a breeze. All is well in the universe again, cheers.

ok, then it may have been 2.0.3. Thing is, I cannot check the version now because I cannot open the program. It worked fine this morning, and did so for the last three months. Back in August I used the Ubuntu Software Center. I tried doing so again today after the search could not find the program.
