Oh OK, so there is no master fader of sorts where you can adjust the overall volume, then export will be a recording of that volume? You know, like in hardware digital mixers where you adjust the recording volume through a master fader?
I will try 32 bit float and see how that turns out.

Export Audio and Change Volume
Is there a way you can export the audio to a .WAV file and change its overall volume at the same time? I don't want to change the volumes of all the individual tracks in the project and I also have reservations about importing a .WAV file back into Audacity, changing its volume and exporting it agai...

Re: Transport Control Buttons
Well those are new features I'm not aware of, and it makes it look like there are bugs in the software. Looks like there is some learning I need to do to catch up to the latest version. How do you explain the problem I had in the first screenshot though? I was not pressing any keys at all. Could it ...

Re: Transport Control Buttons
I'll tell you what. I just closed Audacity and re-opened my project. When I press the SHIFT key this is what happens (see screenshot). When I release the SHIFT key everything goes back to normal. What's happening? Someone fix this.

Re: Transport Control Buttons
OK I attach a screenshot. You can also see that the "record" button is affected as well. It has the "skip to end" icon superimposed on it. If I hover the mouse pointer over the "record" button, the problem disappears (the button looks normal again). This is weird. All I did was create a few tracks a...

Transport Control Buttons
I was just casually using Audacity 2.1.1 on Mac OS X 10.7.5 when I noticed that both the green "Play" transport control buttons sometimes have a white vertical line through the centre of its triangular icon. When I hover the mouse pointer over the button, the line disappears. I've never seen this be...

Frustrations from a Training Manager
I know of a training manager who runs a radio course for adults and prefers Audition over Audacity for many reasons, including ease of use and more powerful features. Because Audacity is free, it is sometimes preferable for teaching purposes. However, whenever she gets the chance, she teaches them A...

Re: importing mp3 files
I'm using Audacity v2.0.2 running under OS X Lion. It's about time I've installed the latest update, but I don't think it would make any difference. Other programs don't have any problem importing files with a backslash in their name.

importing mp3 files
mp3 files cannot be imported into Audacity if they have a backslash '' anywhere in the name of the file. I had no problems importing such files into other programs though, even if they had the backslash character in the file's name. Is this a problem with LAME or Audacity?
