O.K....I just figured this out. A major leap for me. I now know that I'm moving the track along a timeline that is continuous from right to left across the whole screen. O.K. I tried that, but the timeshift tool won't allow me to drag to the track above. It only slides the track I'm on to the right or left. I'm not sure I'm grabbing it properly. Any suggestions as to what I'm doing wrong?

Hi there: I just imported 4 MP# files into Audacity after ripping them and off a CD and putting them through a Switch program to convert to MP3s. I then exported as MP3 to my desktop. O.K. I guess I always assumed that when I ripped songs from a CD that the format was MP3. I'll look for the conversion programs that you listed. Thanks.
