Re: Audacity 2.0.3

I plan to re-install Windows during the first week of June when I'll have more time. Will let you know how it goes.

Re: Audacity 2.0.3

Audacity still would not open. I didn't try Windows Sound. Also, no viruses were detected.

Re: Audacity 2.0.3

I have Recovery Disks 1, 2, and 3 that I made myself after purchasing the computer. I called HP Support last night and they assured me they were designed to revert everything back to the original Windows 7 that came with the unit right out of the box.....essentially as if I bought it today. So that ...

Re: Audacity 2.0.3

Well, I don't know. All I know is that my P.C. came with Windows pre-installed and it did not come with an installation disk. So how can I re-install it? Surely, there's a way to do it. I was thinking you had a link that had the re-install option available, but I'm not sure. I do have a recovery dis...

Re: Audacity 2.0.3

I have Avast! set up to quarantine any malicious software or virus. I do regularly scheduled backups on a daily basis to an external hard drive. I will try to run a boot time scan tonight, but will first create a restore point, just in case. Regardless of the results, I will probably go ahead and re...

Re: Audacity 2.0.3

Gale, I haven't forgotten. I've just been very busy with other things the last couple of days. I am planning to run a boot time scan overnight as you suggested before re-installing Windows 7. How safe is running a boot time scan? Are there any precautions I might need to take? Would you recommend cr...

Re: Audacity 2.0.3

When I open Control Panel and run any applets, the only one that won't open is Realtek Audio Mgr and as I mentioned before, "Manage Audio Devices" and "Change System Sounds" under "Sound." I will run a boot-time scan first before reinstalling Windows and will let you kn...

Re: Audacity 2.0.3

I tried your last suggestion first about Audacity/Properties/Compatibilty. The original setting was XP Service Pack 3. So I set it to Windows 7, then clicked OK, thinking that might solve the problem, but it still wouldn't open. I then tried Vista SP2, Vista SP1, and Vista. None of them worked. It g...
