Yes, I know it looks like that, but I can't paste other audio over it, nor can I hear audio in other tracks beneath it when I add them. They'll play when they're under the top audio track, but not under the blank space.

got the number reversed...audacity 1.2.6 on a 867 MGz PowerPC G4 running OS X 10.4.11

I'm using 2.1.6 on powerbook (having lost about 30 hours of work on audacity 3 last night). When I import wavs, they all have extra dead space at the end.
