Re: Audacity & the Blue Screen of Death

So I woke up this morning and found Audacity all snuggled up next to me under the covers. 'I'm so glad you're showing that you love me,' it says. In fact, my entire pc is running a hundred times better! No blue screens or slow performance. I was even able to edit a files that had something like 18 t...

Re: Audacity & the Blue Screen of Death

Had a bit of a scare with my sound, as I kept hearing popping noises. I ran Audacity 1.3.4 and 1.3.6, and I tell the programmes just weren't behaving properly at all! So, I decided to do a fresh install of XP, only to have my pc crash during setup. I try this several times, but keep getting stop cod...

Re: Audacity & the Blue Screen of Death

Thanks! I'll have a look at that option. btw, the recording issue with 1.3.6 seems to be solved. I believe it all boils down to a patch I forgot to install. the patch allows for playback while recording. I installed it from creative today. rebooted. and everything's running as if nothing's happened....

Re: Audacity & the Blue Screen of Death

perhaps it would help to take a little step back and use Audacity 1.3.4. Never occurred to me to take a step back. Thanks! I just installed 1.3.4; same deal. I'm taking another look at my drivers. My sound card is a SoundBlaster Live Value! and I was able to download drivers and such after I bought...

Re: Audacity & the Blue Screen of Death

but I still keep the PCs around like badly behaved puppies. I am indeed toying with the idea of building a mac. especially since i'd only be using it for music and not games and such. I used a mac for the first time this fall (college courses). it took some getting used to, but it was impressive. pl...

Re: Audacity & the Blue Screen of Death

**UPDATE** I was able to record just fine in Audacity 1.2.6 and I would be completely elated had I not performed all of my work in 1.3.6 and therefore can't be opened in 1.2.6. My first ever gripe about Audacity. I've already figured out a a workaround, but sheez! Why can't this be easy? I un-instal...

Re: Audacity & the Blue Screen of Death

"Blue Screen of Death" - wow, I've not seen one of those in years It's not polite to brag :D Actually, it's been a while for me too. So long, I forgot it existed. Unfortunately, after browsing Googling all day, I seem to be learning the hard way how to read these error codes. I just updated my soun...

Re: Audacity & the Blue Screen of Death

By "FireWall" I mean a tasteful cerulean and silver box about the size of two or three cigarette boxes sitting next to the DSL adapter in the laundry room. I should invest in one. Nothing like being safe. I totally got so complacent with software, that I forgot such things exist. I will definitely ...

Re: Audacity & the Blue Screen of Death

Do you know how you got your virus infection? It was win32: Virut, if I remember. Bloody thing infected just about every .exe file I had before I caught it. Had to do a re-install of windows. Also, I was using a beta version of Comodo Antivirus (I didn't know it was Beta at the time) and somehow it...

Audacity & the Blue Screen of Death

I am very skeptical of Beta anything, but I gave Audacity 1.3 a shot, especially, since I could easy switch back to my previous copy if I wasn't happy. Well, I am happy, even with the earlier problems I was having (in other threads), but that was pretty much user error, as I'm sure this situation is...
