Koz, thanks for the info about overloading the Mic. The manual mentioned setting at abut 6 so I did with no discernible result. I do record at the distance shown in your image. I will continue to lower the input mic settings. Hoakieman

hiss while recording
Just bought a Dynex mic from Best Buy, when I record voice as in reading and recording, i notice a definite "hiss" that is present while recording and in play back. I have windows 7 and the newest Audacity version. The Mic is a USB and I have played with the input volume, but it doesn't help.

OK, That helped, I needed to know if Audacity would record directly from the microphone to the CD or if it made its own file. Now I know what to do. I looked for it in the manual myself, but did not find it, thanks for the link. It took me right where i needed to go.
