Re: Background noise in vinyl
If you haven't already tried it, check the item on the Effect menu called Noise Removal. This is exactly what it's for, but I think you will have to experiment with its settings to get the best result. I suspect every LP's noise will be a bit different. I've tried it a few times and it did have unde...

Re: Strange meter behaviour when recording LP
Hmm, yes I see what you mean about the non-repeatability. I've had occasion to do a few shift-Records since my post, and it has not happened again. This is the sort of thing that gives developers premature grey hair! I feel your pain

Re: Strange meter behaviour when recording LP
I hadn't come across that setting, so no, haven't tried that. If I remember I will try it. If it's any help, the way the sound level came up and went down was very gentle - almost like a fade-in and a fade-out. It was the regular 6-second timing that really intrigued me!

Strange meter behaviour when recording LP
This is not a complaint - just an observation. I've been using Audacity 2.0.3 for converting some vinyl LPs. Normally I use the recommended workflow - record the whole LP as one track then split it up using labels. This involves clicking Pause after recording the first side, flipping the LP, then co...

Re: Scrolling stops during recording
I haven't tried making the current (recording) window smaller.
I'm recording at 44100
The Labels method referred to above will overcome the track-break issue.
Thanks for the help.

Re: Scrolling stops during recording
Thanks for that. I wasn't aware of the Labels method for splitting up the audio from a whole LP side - will definitely give that a go. It's clear that I should be using the Normalize action too - haven't been doing that. As for the display not scrolling, I don't have to restart the machine, I think ...

Scrolling stops during recording
Apologies if this has been covered - I did search but cold not find anything. I'm using Audacity (2.0.2) to convert vinyl LPs to digital, using a phono-to-USB gadget. It's working great, and I'm quite blown away that software this capable is available free. Thanks to all the developers who put in th...
