When I played some back they all had some moments of silence during playback which they dont have if I listen to original file in Audacity. I also had one that changed format from stereo to mono. very odd. the only solution was to g...

Audacity crashed!!!
Audacity really annoyed me yesterday. I went to open a project file and I got messages coming up that there was a crash or bugs which resulted in lost data. This meant some of my tracks had just silence on them (the drum and the bass tracks). I went back to a much earlier copy of the project to see ...

How do you export to another audio editor?

What im trying to do is export my song from Audacity into Krystal (separate tracks) so I can edit them there. Is this possible? I dont know what file format I need to ex...

Re: pasting a clip into a track?
when I want to extend a track I go round the houses You certainly do :D There is no need to change from mono to stereo to mono, you can do it all in mono or stereo, depending on which type your original is. Use Ctrl+D to duplicate the part that you want. Lining up the beats exactly can take a bit o...

Re: pasting a clip into a track?
This is interesting. Always wondered what cross-fade did. I might have to experiment with this. As when I want to extend a track I go round the houses by: 1) changing track from mono to stereo 2) copying part of the track and adding it to 2nd channel 3) spend ages lining up part on 2nd channel to en...

Re: More Free VST Plug-ins.
Ive installed VST bridge, lame thing, and some effects. They are in my PLug-In file, within Audacity programme file. Unfortunately, none of these work when Im in Audacity. I dont even get the option of selecting "Plug In" now as some of the sub-menu options have vanished. I also cant export to MP3 f...

Re: Recordings come out MONO?
You should be able to plug one of these in between your existing cable and the sound card to get your sound on both sides. http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2102690 The microphone connection is mono... http://www.kozco.com/tech/audioconnectors/audioconnectors.html ...and the com...

Re: Recordings come out MONO?
What are you recording with? A guitar chord with an adapter going into the Line IN jack? If that's the case it's going to come out mono. Best to record the track mono, duplicate the track and then make a stereo track out of them. You could try making up a cable that goes from the guitar into 1/8 st...
