Re: Audacity recording over itself?

If you look in the directory Audacity creates, (something like '<project_name>_data'), you will see that the sound is saved in small chunks. The playback you describe sounds like all these chunks have got out of order for some reason. What is the total size of the Audacity project that is corrupted?...

Re: Missing the < and > on audacity horizontal scrollbar

Here is a puzzle. I realized the configuration I told you about was for gtk3, and it adds arrows. But then I read Audacity uses gtk2? I tried configuring gtk2 as advised here (but using location ~/.config/gtk-2.0 for gtkrc). https://blog.tinned-software.net/how-to-get-scrollbar-arrows-in-linux-mint-...

Re: Missing the < and > on audacity horizontal scrollbar

There a function called gtk_adjustment_set_step_increment not sure if this is the right one or if it can be configured by user It could be worth asking on the Gnome Core forum (Gnome look after GTK development). https://discourse.gnome.org/c/platform/core/9 - - - Also, probably not what you want but...

Re: Missing the < and > on audacity horizontal scrollbar

According to this post there is a setting in gtk3 which decides whether to show the arrows (scrollbar steppers) or not:

Re: Audacity 2.4.1 stops HDMI sound (Manjaro, XFCE, jack2 with pulseaudio)

I've found a solution. Cadence was set to start jack2 at login. Disabling this and manually starting jack solves the problem. Audacity will then output to hdmi when set to 'ALSA' with output device as 'pulse'. This works for both ALSA + Pulse and Jack + Pulse bridge. It may be something to do with t...

Re: Invisible Mouse Pointer

Someone had the same problem on Manjaro, though no solution was posted - other than trying a different cursor theme or different version of Audacity.

Re: Audacity 2.4.1 stops HDMI sound (Manjaro, XFCE, jack2 with pulseaudio)

Thanks for the answer. It could be a soundcard or distro specific problem. I only have one stereo hdmi output. I reconfigured my system to work with ALSA and Pulse. I get the same problem as when I use Jack. (Audacity set to ALSA with Pulse output option). Audacity appears to play, with a vertical l...

Re: how to 'play'...

I found this confusing at first, too. You can also start playback at a certain position by clicking on the timeline (11) (above audio track waveform), if you are in quick play mode.

Re: Difficulty finding downloads

You may end up with compatibility problems using current apps on old versions of Linux. A better route could be to try a different desktop environment that is lighter than Cinnamon - such as XFCE - although the feature set will vary. Or there could be ways to increase the speed of Cinnamon in the se...

Re: Difficulty finding downloads

Thanks for the heads up. I have not tested the snap installation. But I will once I have the standard Manjaro package functioning.
