Re: Mute while recording

Yes sometimes my playback volume is under the record button and sometimes it moves. I think it might be because I have a large monitor that is split in two. Where ever it is if I bring it all of the way down it stops the speakers but I can see the wave form still moving and after recording can bring...

Re: Mute while recording

Those solutions work; I also miss being able to click a button and mute while recording. Here are easier solutions that work on my desktop with stand alone speakers and Realtek Audio. This I think should work on all computers go to the playback volume it is to the right of the meters (the green line...

Re: Was recording but now it won't record

Is this still a problem? It was until I got your post. I had tried everything you suggested but worked my way through them again using your suggestions as a check list, and discovered when I check the Sound Devices again I had missed that the mute was checked for the line and the mic in. I don’t kn...

Re: How do I record a mono signal to the left and right chan

Thanks Gale,
This is a big help. It's easy once you know where those menus are lurking. And thanks for the link.

Re: How do I record a mono signal to the left and right chan

I misunderstood; I added the left track to the right on the second pass. Can you explain how I “split the stereo track, discarding the empty right channel and defining the remaining left channel as mono instead of left.” I would also love to learn about Koz's Four Horsemen, do you have a link? Thank...

Re: How do I record a mono signal to the left and right chan

Obviously I'm a newbie so I really appreciate the help.
kozikowski, Thank you, this did the trick.
PGA, Thanks this works too, but means I have to record it twice and it seems to add noise. But it is a trick I'm glad to know and will use for other things in the future.

How do I record a mono signal to the left and right channel?

I am recording a mono cassette, spoken word – with a mono Radio Shake cassette player – to my computer, line level in – exporting a .wav file to iTunes – transferring it to my iPod Touch. Audacity records it fine but because it is mono it is only recording on the left channel. Is there some way I ca...
