Corrupted file
I recorded four sets of a band in a live performance using Audacity and two mics through a Focusrite Scarlett 2i4 and a Dell Latitude notebook. The first two sets recorded well and were each exported as a wav file which also imported and played well. The third set recorded, but on playback the file ...

Track different after importing
I recorded a night of club music with Audacity on a notebook computer, saved it as a WAV file and imported it onto my desk computer. When I open the file there are red peak lines everywhere, while there were none on the original. Why would there be a difference?

Screen Saver shut-down?
In my first recording session with Audacity I noticed that my system blacks out after 15 minutes with no user input. I then set my screen saver and system shut-downs to "never", but still saw a black screen after 15 minutes. When I opened my system back up it seems that I didn't lose any data and ev...

Re: Garbled track?
Keeping the number of running programs down is simple enough.
Is this a common problem? Since I have heard this a couple of times in this system I am assuming it crops up occasionally.

Garbled track?
I recorded a night at a club using a Scarlett 2i2, 2 small shotgun mics and audacity on a 32 bit Windows 7 notebook. My first set was saved as an Audacity file, but when I try to listen it is garbled, you can recognize the song, but it has pops, runs too fast and sounds cut up. Other sets recorded a...
Re: File size
I should stick to "back-up" for this data.

File size
I have recently started recording a band my father plays in regularly and I am now up to 28 GB of data. Saving just one set of music takes up one CD (and I get 4 sets per night). How much will I lose if I record at 16 or 24 bits or at a lower sample rate? Is there a simpler or better way to archive ...

WAV vs Audacity?
Very green newbie questions: I am trying to record a band in a live nightclub environment using Audacity and a USB interface (Scarlett 2i2). I have recorded this group using hand-held digital recorders (Zoom H2 & TASCAM DR5) that save to WAV files, but now need better microphones to eliminate club c...

Re: Repeat edits?
So, Audacity doesn't use the original source file, it processes and reprocesses the "working file" every time an action is done. So a good workflow be to import the raw file (mine are usually performance sets with 8 to 10 songs), pull out a segment (song) to process as a separate project, run effect...
