Thank you. No, my sight is OK. I have tried what you suggest and a test run shows that all is well.

Re: volume

I don't know that it's possible to lock those settings. The purpose of Audacity is to allow changes like that. Did you bump one of the tiny +/- volume sliders to the left of the tracks? They should all be in the middle unless you want them for an effect. That doesn't happen to thousands of people, ...

I am on Mac OX S 10 8 6. A kind friend set up Audacity for me. It worked well for several monthly programmes for the blind that I make, then suddenly the two tracks volume went haywire. The volume of voice track and music track are unbalanced. Please tell me how I adjust the two AND THEN LOCK THE FI...

voice timbre

I record each month for a charity. On playback I find that my voice is very deep and rasping. Can I tweak the sound to make any difference? Second question: I record in my study (via built-in mic) and the result is 'boxy'. I draw the curtains across and hang a heavy dressing gown across the wardrobe...

Downloading a music mp3 for mixing

Help a beginner, please? Mac Desktop OS X 10.5.8. I am desperate to find a website that offers either a free or a paid-for mp3 download (in fact, of Bach - Prelude 1, BVW 846, but that is irrelevant) that I can use to mix in as background to voice. I can find plenty of mp3 downloads but all they wil...

Re: Recording

As I said before, you've solved the problem, and I'm most grateful. I was not using 'Bult-in Microphone'.

Picture 3.png I have just uploaded an .mp3 into Audacity. It appeared instantly and I played it through. I saved it. I then selected NEW in File and read some copy. The line remained flat. What do I need to do, please? I attach an opened file (just created to illustrate the present format and not r...
