Pardon my ignorance, I don't see how being not multiprocessor aware causes exporting to Nero AAC fail on default settings.

Dude, just post the exact error message already. Gotta know the error description before we can even start troubleshooting.
p/s: Audacity 2.0 is working fine on my Windows 7 64-bit Home Premium, out of the box. So something's probably off on your end.

LAME and ffmpeg are 2 separate things. You will need to install "FFmpeg_v0.6.2_for_Audacity_on_Windows.exe" instead.
LAME library is for exporting to .mp3 format. It doesn't have anything to do with importing .wma files.

I don't understand. What is the purpose of finding this out? It's not like you can somehow revert it into .wav again, what you get is what you get. As for the replies above, the methods can tell whether the a file labelled as .mp3 contains a lossy-compressed audio, they do not tell whether the .mp3 ...
