Re: Recording the "inside" (small-diameter) LP tracks?
Hmm, lots to think on here, guys, and I appreciate the input. I do indeed have some LPs where the distortion on the inner tracks compared to the outer ones is, in fact, noticeable to my "naked" ear- enough so that I can pick them out when playing the music "shuffled". I had believed that the differe...

Recording the "inside" (small-diameter) LP tracks?
Hello, everyone, I know that by the "nature of the beast" the inside tracks of an LP have more distortion. Any tips on how to get a cleaner recording or how to process some of this out? I am recording through a Pioneer turntable and equalizer/amp, out the 3.5mm headset connection, into my sound card...

Re: Small Gaps in Recording from LPs?
So far so good, folks. Thanks so very much for the help!
I put up a separate post for anyone interested- any idea how to make the inside tracks (ex.- #5 and #10) to sound better?
Thanks again!

Re: Small Gaps in Recording from LPs?
Thanks very much, Trebor, I definitely learn something every day. I did not realize I could prioritize processes; will the priority stay set permanently, or do I need to reset it each time? I also thought I had read all the Audacity tips and tutorials, but I did not know about the tip to zoom the wi...

Re: Small Gaps in Recording from LPs?
Thanks, folks. My Pioneer turntable goes through a Pioneer amp/ equalizer, out the headset plug through a 3.5mm stereo adapter, to the 3.5mm stereo receptacle in my sound card (SoundMax Digital Audio), to the Audacity program. There is no USB connection involved. I record to Audacity, export the WAV...

Small Gaps in Recording from LPs?
Hello, folks, I am currently using Audacity 2.0.0 to transfer my LPs to MP3 files. Since upgrading to 2.0 from 1.3 (I think it was), I occasionally get a small gap/ hiccup in my recording, where I lose a brief piece of the track. It is sort of like the needle jumping/ skipping a track, but it is not...

Re: How to get LP rips up to same volume as CD rips?
Well, since everyone has been so helpful here, I have to tell a story on myself. Even with all the upgrades and additions, I still couldn't get the final MP3 to sound good at all. I read up a lot on this forum and in the tutorials, figured out that I should do all the editing before exporting the fi...

Re: How to get LP rips up to same volume as CD rips?
Thanks very much for the replies, gentlemen, It does not appear that my mobile stereos (which are all JVC KD-R7xx and 8xx series) support the ReplayGain technology. I have downloaded Audacity 2.0, and now have plenty of work ahead to try out your other suggestions. I really appreciate your help and ...

Re: How to get LP rips up to same volume as CD rips?
Thank you very much for the reply, Bill. I am more interested than clarity than volume, but would like everything in my files to be at the same approximate volume level so that when I load it onto my flash drive, I can listen to my music on my truck stereo without having to constantly adjust the vol...

How to get LP rips up to same volume as CD rips?
Hello, folks, I have been using Audacity 1.2 on and off for several years for ringtones, etc., but have just now begun using it to record my old LPs as MP3 files on my computer. My problem is, if I follow the recording guidelines on the tutorials, my recordings sound a LOT lower on my Windows Media ...
