Re: Cannot record Stereo Mix
Ah, yes, it's a "normal" minijack-type of headset, so it SHOULD work with Stereo-mix, but doesn't. Can't resist a general rant here: I'm rather annoyed, in fact TOTALLY annoyed at the moment, with soundcard and computer manufacturers going out of their way to make things WORSE by having the equipmen...

Re: Cannot record Stereo Mix
Answering myself: I did a bit more searching and found this other thread: http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=45812 It seems I am in the exact same situation. When I switch the sound to the loudspeakers it works !!?? I had only fiddled with the settings for recording devices. It hadn'...

Cannot record Stereo Mix
This is probably a Windows or Sound driver problem, rather than Audacity, but I suspect the right knowledge might exist in this forum. OK, so I am absolutely stumped trying to record "Stereo Mix". It is simply silent whatever I do, even though I have sound playing on the system (on-line radio but ju...

1.3.10 Export Selection as mp3 saves wrong duration
I am extracting small snippets of an audio file into separate .mp3 files for language drilling purposes. The snippets can be anything from aprox. 1 to 15 seconds duration. Example: file 1 (English): "I will report this to the police" file 2 (Mandarin Chinese): "Wo yao bao jing le" When selecting one...

Re: Unwanted echo effect recording Stereo/mono mix
!!! SOLVED !!! Thanks so much for your patience and suggestions. It was just what I needed to get me pointed in the right direction. You mentioned sound card drivers, which in my case were the original ones that came with the PC when it was new in 2004. So I hunted around on the web a little to see ...

Re: Unwanted echo effect recording Stereo/mono mix
Thanks again for the suggestions. It might be that we are getting a little closer to the root of the problems here. I did already have "Microsoft Sound Mapper" as input and output devices, though I briefly tested changing there too. It is an on-board sound card all right "Realtek AC97 Audio", but no...

Re: Unwanted echo effect recording Stereo/mono mix
Thanks, and yes, I would also not be surprised if it is a general sound system setup issue. Still, I was hoping somone in this forum might have been up against the same thing in the past. Windows recorder records OK from the mic, as does Audacity. However I can't find a way to get it to record the s...

Re: Unwanted echo effect recording Stereo/mono mix
Thanks for trying but no, it isn't that either.
I just tried it again with the mic muted, the mic cable disconnected and the speakers switched off as well.
The result is exactly the same, with the annoying hollow echo on the recording.
Any other ideas?

Unwanted echo effect recording Stereo/mono mix
Hi, Whenever I try to record stereo mix or mono mix input eg. to record an online radio stream, I am getting an annoying hollow echo effect on the recording which means the recording is basically useless to me. The sound is fine while I am listening to it live but the recording is infected with that...
