Re: libmp3lame.dylib Not found????
Trying to import/export M4A files. I tried the alternate method with no luck. Yea, I thought LAME was not for M4A's but that's what it seemed to be looking for, so that's what I was trying to give it. Got FFmpeg installed from a different app and Audacity didn't like/recognize that either. Followed ...

libmp3lame.dylib Not found????
I can't export/import due to Audacity not being able to see libmp3lame.dylib, even though it is right where it should be, I point Audacity to the file, I do everything but rub it's nose in it. What am I missing here?

Re: Auto add extension on export
That would be a nice convenience.Gale Andrews wrote:There could be a checkbox to force the appropriate default extension to be added even if the file name has dots. We may do that at some future time.

Re: Auto add extension on export
Some exports don't have any idea what you want ahead of time. If you export WAV Microsoft signed 16-bit PCM, it should always add the .wav extension. I think there is another way to export WAV that doesn't. Presently, I am exporting to .M4A. I think that is the same setting I used previously but no...

Auto add extension on export
I think I screwed something up. Previously when exporting to a format, I recall Audacity automatically adding the appropriate file extension. I was having trouble with a certain file and decided to try exporting to a different format. Since then, I am having to manually add the extension upon export...

Got it. Thanks.billw58 wrote:If you want to see if you have DC offset, record with no signal (but your equipment connected), then zoom vertically to maximum. If the signal is not centred on the zero line then you have DC offset.

Re: When is Inverse RIAA appropriate?
DC offset (if you have it) is a result of a faulty or poor soundcard, a small (sometimes large DC current) is appled to the signal, sometimes just one of the channels. It shows up visually as a waveform that is not centred on the zero centre line. Is there a way to test for the presence of the DC o...

Re: When is Inverse RIAA appropriate?
When 78rpm reaords were made, each company used its own equalisation curve, until they were standardised by the RIAA in the 1950s. Well, it sounds like I'm just gonna have to shoot in the dark and hope I get close on this one. It's been awhile since I've looked at the 78's that are the special proj...

Re: iMac and S/PDIF Optical input?
Specs say it does have an optical digital input. But it is apparently in the 3.5 MM form, a combination input for both digital and analog. It's all a bit beyond me..
