I tried a higher activation level for the Auto Record function. It works. The record is a tad crackly, so I still have a short unwanted intro, but its much better. Now I need to work out how to transfer to an MP3 player, I'm not bothering with CDs. Good this new technology, innit! Have a Happy New Y...

Don't worry, I have worked out how to delete the unwanted beginning and end bits. We're cooking with gas now. I'll try the Auto record later and report back. Thanks.

AH! Now I'v got it. I need to click record and Audacity will 'listen out' for the music to begin.

In the interim, how do I chop the silent ends off? I have gotten rd of the sound, but, if I click play, it continues to 'play' the now silent end bit!

I set everything up, play the LP and nothing happens unless I click the 'record' button. I have tried activation levels at -36dB and -60dB. I have also updated to version 1.3.14

OK, its not the end of the word to press record and delete the silent beginning and end if all else works well.

PS. I can record and hear fine, I just have to press the record button at the right time and wanted to have Audacity do it automatically.

I cannot get Sound Activated Recording to work on my Audacity ® 1.3.7 (Unicode) loaded onto my MacBook Pro. I am recording vinyl. Any ideas?
