Re: Import audio crash
@rrm: We're pretty sure the problem is with the ID3 tags in that file. You can import it if you set the "File Type" dropdown menu in the File Import dialog to "MP3 files" or "FFmpeg-compatible files". -- Bill The option of MP3 Files works great, FFmpgeg gives exact the same problem. Also tried to r...

Re: Import audio crash
Well assuming that the files that you are importing are also "normal" you will be well short of th 2^31 sample limit. I'm trying to get a handle on what is triggering the freeze/crash.... If you import just one, known to be good, MP3 file, then import the same file again and again, adding each copy...

Re: Import audio crash
It is not a freezing problem, audacity is automatically shut down, there is no option of waiting. audacity is freezes and is forced to shut down with windows message that it doesn't react anymore. These two statements appear to be contradictory. Can you clarify? Windows instantly gives a notificati...

Re: Import audio crash
You might not be waiting long enough. The "(Not Responding)" message does not always mean the app has crashed; it will appear any time an app is taking a long time (in computer terms) to perform a calculation series without checking for messages from Windows. It is not a freezing problem, audacity ...

Re: Import audio crash
See here for more information: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Recording_length The wiki is clear but still gives me the feeling something else is the problem. There is more than enough empty disk space and more than half of my RAM is doing "nothing". I switched all the tracks to 16bit in stead o...

Re: Import audio crash
Working with 4Gb RAM, 40Gb of drive space at the C: and 90Gb in a temporary directory at another drive (Vista, 32bit, NTFS). I use mainly OGG and (insane compressed) MP3. The reason for this large project is a party in my backyard. Each track is mixed at the end/beginning the way I want and not some...

Import audio crash
Using 1.3.14-beta with Vista worked well, but suddenly went wrong. I have "merged" almost 70 audio tracks without any problem. In total 5h:32m. Trying to import more audio, independent of which mp3 track, audacity is freezes and is forced to shut down with windows message that it doesn't react anymo...
