Can't record guitar through amp

I've been using Audacity for quite a while now and havnt had many problems I just bought a new laptop (Toshiba Satelite C665) and when I plug an Auxiliary chord from the headphone jack of my amp to the mic jack of my laptop and play, it just has a really loud fuzzy frequency . Yeah I realise It's suppose to be set in the middle. I've been using this program for over a year with no problems such as these Ok, so I've done what you've said and it has seemed to make some progress. I've included a screen shot of my playback and recording settings incase they need to be adjuste...

I disabled the 2 playthrough options and restarted Audacity. When I clicked record, it still looks identical to my screenshot above, but without playback bar :(

Please look at the screen shot attachment I have never had a problem like this. Usually i can just get a clean, in-synch recording Lately, it seems that maybe my laptop mic is too sensitive.
