I am using a desktop and therefore going into line in.

It seems weird that the buzzing only happens when recording.

Could I simply put it through my regular stereo (which would normally have the record player plugged into an auxillery input), then feed the pc from the headphone output?

I am trying to record from an LP. I have the record player directly connected to the line in of the PC, with the earthing cable attached to the computer. When I am playing through the pc everything sounds completely fine, but the moment I hit record on audacity I get what sounds like a massive earth...
