Thanks Steve for your quick reply. Removing some of the tool bars did indeed solve the problem. However, it sure would be nice if I didn't have to remove anything. When I minimize Audacity to about 1/2 size horizontally to allow for a split screen when recording,(I post material to be recorded on the left half) the recording track is not centered on my Dell Inspiron laptop. Thank you for you very quick response! Unfortunately there is no check box that says "Automatically fit tracks vertically zoomed" Sure would be great if there were because that seems to be the problem I am suffering. Incidentally I am using 1.3.13-beta But golly, how good of you to respond...
