Steve: Well done. When I disconnect the audio leads to the amplifier, the tone is not present when I hit the record button. With the leads reconnected the tone is present when recording (both when the turntable is on and when it is off.) I have a desktop pc and the audio leads run about a foot from ...

Thanks for your response. Device toolbar settings are: MME; Speakers (VIA High Definition); Microphone (USB Audio); 2(Stereo) Input. Starting this week, I too get a high pitched sound from my speakers when I hit the record button (with software playthrough checked), whether my Ion turntable is turned on or not. I do not get it when I listen to the turntable with a direct connection to my amplifier. The speakers are not loud enoug...
