Recording Drums as Midi
A friend is a drummer and a bit of a technophobe. He hs asked me how he could record a drum track at home so that he could then take it into a studio to add other instrruments / vocals etc. He has a basic laptop and recording an acoustic kit outside of a studio is not an option for him. We are think...

Re: Trying to clean up a song of my mom singing for her fune
To my ears I'd go with the original recording.
Yes there is some background noise and a regular click.
However you frequently find when trying to "improve" a track that it makes things worse.

Re: Missing Feature or User Error?
I record the shows on a Zoom R16 it's purpose built for this. I have up to 8tracks I can record simultaniously, there is some bleed between instruments. the amount varies. For example I DI the bass and guitar amps so that is isolated, however there is some bleed onto the drum mics. I'll try the time...

Missing Feature or User Error?
Hi Folks, I'm using Audacity to edit my bands live recordings and there is one feature that appears not to exsist. Typical situation, in the middle of a song there is stab from all four members. It sounds fine , live, however on play back the bass and bass drum are slightly apart, and the lead and r...

Re: Making volumes equal
When you are normalising are you selecting both songs (ie the complete file)?
Try selecting file A then normalising then select file B and noprmalise.

Re: How to change pitch without creating echo?
Hi Ian, I'm using Audacity 2 on a Windows XP desktop. I've just opened a previously recorded MP3, changed the pitch by 2 semi tones down and checked. No echo problem. I've also in the past used ther change pitch by up to an octave down on a violin part to give a chello effect again no echo. I'm usin...

Re: viewing info
Others may be able to advise you better but I think that recording 10 hours as one file will place a strain on any computer. However; If it is possible then you will be able to see the noise waveform in the Audacity window Using the magnifying glass symbol + in the tool bar will let you zoom in and ...

Re: Exporting a project to a stereo WAV
Thank you,
I indeed on this recording have all the tracks centre panned. The solution came to me as I was driving to the supermarket but my wife wouldn't let me put off the monthly shopping to come back and try it.
Now the shopping is done and I've got everything working ok again.

Exporting a project to a stereo WAV
Hi Folks, I've been quite happily using Audacity on my XP machine to mix some band recordings. Up to 10 minutes ago at the end of a rough mix I would save the project then export it as a stereo WAV file. For reasons unknown and probably due to user error it's now exporting as a mono file!! All the p...
