Re: I can only record 6 seconds or less of vinyl
It's worse with audio cache off. Really not playing ball with me at the moment. Would switching to audacity 1.2. be any better?

Re: I can only record 6 seconds or less of vinyl
Hi Gale, I switched to 16bit and couldn't notice any differences in quality so stuck with that and the problem lessened. However it has come back even with 16 bit. I did switch to audio cache to deal with skipping in the end mp3 so i shall try switching it off again. Have set the latency to 1000ms a...

Re: I can only record 6 seconds or less of vinyl
Hi Gale, Yeah the logic was that i didn't have a line in to the computer so i brought the onyx as it had a built in sound card+usb output+good quality preamps. Tried setting format to 24bit + followed applicable advice in the link you sent me. Have had an improvement - decent sound quality and no sk...

Re: I can only record 6 seconds or less of vinyl
I've got it working now. However the resultant mp3's have skips in them as the recording struggles to keep up. The effect is reuced with a lower sample rate but the net sound quality is noticibly reduced compared to 48k. Is there ways round this new problem beyond buying a new faster computer. cheer...

Re: I can only record 6 seconds or less of vinyl
Hi Gale, Knowns: Version of Windows is XP. Software playthrough in audacity transport menu was/is unchecked. I uninstalled soundmax so will go to the link you provided. The computer is a laptop. The usb port is the only one in action - I have downloaded the drivers for blackjack and the computer is ...

Re: I can only record 6 seconds or less of vinyl
Hi Guys, Right I've tried again with all my processing power available (only 5% cpu being used by other stuff in the system) and i have the same problem. Despite me ballsing up my soundmax driver the onyx imput is registered by audacity so that isn't the problem. One thing i have noticed is that the...

Re: I can only record 6 seconds or less of vinyl
Hi guys, thanks for swift response. Hard drive was full of space and not fragmented. However there were a ridiculous number of processes running using up all my cpu - would this have caused the problem? Have now dleted all useless programs (except accidently my soundmax driver which i'll need to mag...

I can only record 6 seconds or less of vinyl
I am trying to convert my vinyl and to this end i have brought a onyx blackjack analogue to digital converter and attached it to an output from my mixer and am trying to record the resultant signal on audacity 1.3.13. I have set input and output to the onyx device in the toolbar in Audacity (though ...
