After another Windows crash last night and automatic resetting to previous state Audacity is back to normal. Many thanks for the support in trying to locate the source of the trouble. (Still don't know what the cause was.)

You say that everything was previously working fine on this machine? Well, not everything, but Audacity was giving me no hassle. Is this specific to MP3 files? (If you don't have any audio files other than MP3s, make some test samples by opening Audacity, generate a test tone, and export several times in different formats). After import of MP3 file I am allowed one mouseclick before Audacity "freezes" on me. This did not happen before I installed SP1. Any ideas?
