Check the Windows Mixer (loudspeaker icon near the clock) and make sure that you've not got something muted. Not sure where that little icon went, but I found the Mixer under Programs/Accessories/Entertainment and sure enough the wave audio was muted! I'll just make sure not to touch the mixer tool...

I've been using this program for a few days now to manipulate some recordings, but while trying to edit a recording, I accidently pressed the the input volume meter on the mixer toolbar (the one to the right, with the microphone symbol on it). After that, I couldn't hear any sound at all. Not in aud...
