I'm trying to learn the effects available in Audacity. Specifically, I want to achieve the radio or walkie talkie effect. All of the Youtube tutorials show effects tools that I don't have. ie: Multiband Compressor.
Any suggestions on how to quickly learn Beta version effects?

The input selector on the toolbar that toggles between mic and stero mix input has a tendency to disappear between sessions. Sometimes it's there sometimes it's not. Any suggestions?

Thanks for everyone's help. I'm convinced it's a mic problem with the Samson. The USB mic is a temporary set up anyway.

I'm using a USB mic with windows xp. I have the mic level set fairly high. If I set it lower I get very little modulation.

Ny vocal levels are being limited to +/- 5 db. How can un unrestrict that so the levels can fill the whole screen and the vocal won't sound distorted?

I'm getting about a 1/2 second delay in monitoring what I'm recording. Can anyone tell me why and what to do to fix it?

Samson CO1U connected via usb. I have all the settings set as they should be and still only get the left channel using Audacity and Wavepad

Thanks but that didn't seem to work. There's audio in track 1. I move the cursor to the end of that track and want to add another track yet when I Import new audio the 2nd track doesn't start there. Am I missing something simple?

Thanks, Koz but is there a way to add a new track at the end of the previous track? In other words add a track where the previous track ens without using the time shift.

I'm having an issue witha new mic. It seems to only be recording the left channel. There is audio in the right but is very low and playback can only be heard in the left channel. Any tips or is it the mic?
