Re: Noise reduction in sections of a track

If I did it right, it shouldn't make any difference the volume you start with. It's self-correcting. If it's too far off, you'll just get perfect volume trash. OK. I rolled up the other sleeve: Select the whole show. Effect > Filter Curve : Low Rolloff for Speech > OK. Low Rolloff.png Effect > Ampli...

Re: Mastering

OK. That's it. That's the story-telling voice. "Her husband, ...Drew Peterson..." I applied that low-pitch notch filter to get rid of your computer fans, Mastering steps in order, and then Noise Reduction of the Beast. Re: Mastering

If it fails again even with the magic, post 20 unprocessed seconds of the failed voice. With background sound/room tone if you can.

Re: Mastering

I got the mastering to work, too, but I had to do some magic to get it there. Screen Shot 2021-05-13 at 1.53.20 PM.png There is a very low pitch single tone riding through the file. 90Hz, if you're counting. 90Hz is not typical of heating, ventilation, or lighting in either Europe or the US, so I'm ...

Re: Mastering

I see we didn't establish something important early on. Which Audacity version are you using? In Windows, I think it's Help > About menu. The new loudness tool is Loudness Normalization and you said RMS Normalize. There's several Audacity versions between those two. The illustrations you posted show...

Re: Some basic Audacity questions

I'm basically a one-man band -- recording, editing, hosting myself. Producer, Performer, Engineer. The engineer part will be important the first time you have a guest or try to produce a show with Zoom content. Neither of those is as easy as you think. You may need to explain to the Producer that t...

Re: Some basic Audacity questions

Even if you do work with the recommended multiple tracks, Audacity will mix down to plain stereo or mono automatically when you export the show. If all your tracks are mono (one blue wave) then you'll get a mono show. There are more complicated ways to mix down to the final show ahead of time, but y...

Re: Optimal bit depth setting with Yeti mic?

Audacity doesn't have Get Info. To see the technical specifications of a sound file you have to do it before you import.

See: Media Info either as a download or on-line.
