Re: My hand made vocal booth and voice test

an electronic device, they can make noise. That's not electronic communication and the phone is not receiving or placing a call. That's the screen doing that. Screens are wire meshes with data signals racing back and forth to turn each pin-point of light (pixel) on and off. Any electrical activity ...

Re: Reducing booming

You might ask the Producer when is constant haggling and messing with marginal sound worth getting a proper studio and ditching the polished hardwood floor and rich wooden paneling. Sound without the picture is a radio show. Picture without the sound is a rehearsal. That's not to say there are no wa...

Re: My hand made vocal booth and voice test

I don't know that the dimensions are all that critical, and you can get an idea of the sizes from the microphone. The walls, ceiling and bottom have to meet. No holes or gaps. So construction accuracy is critical. But that's not the way I did it. I did it using common parts given you live near a Har...

Re: Silent Subliminal presentation system.

I did hear a multiple message presentation a while back. It was a "forward" voice and one or two lower volume background voices at the same time with different messages. It was remarkable that my head could keep track of all that and make sense of the messages. It was also exhausting. It used up the...

Re: Reducing booming

I resumed work on the project, thankful we had managed to work all the issues out, and resolved to never let anything like this come between us ever again! Thus neatly side-stepping a fix for the actual problem—bad studio acoustics. Echoes are your own voice arriving at the microphone multiple time...

Re: Reducing booming

Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 mic The Scarlett 2i2 is an interface, not a microphone. Is there anything that can be done to improve either of these? You could try "looping." That's what the movies do if they run into a particularly difficult sound problem. Set your microphone up in a good, quiet, echo-fre...

Re: Dynamic range expansion, opposite of compression

a guest on the show is at home in front of his computer with less-than-desirable acoustics. Oh, it's far worse than that. Were they wearing headphones? If not, then Zoom was also gating the host's voice on the guest's microphone so it doesn't create a feedback condition. You can do everybody a real...
