Great Results Audacity 1.3.12, ClickRepair

Hello All - I am getting amazing results going from vinyl into Aud1.3.12, then cleaning the raw data with Davies' ClickRepair. I just recorded and processed John McLaughlin's "My Goals' Beyond" from my 40 y/o vinyl, (hundreds of plays, sometimes not on the best TTs) and I'm absolutely knocked out. F...

Re: USB vs. line-in

Hmmm. It occurs to me that I never encountered this problem when I first started doing this stuff about four years ago. (I kind of let it go for a while). Since then, I've added a wireless router from Verizon, my TV/Internet/phone provider. (I don't know how it works in the UK, but I imagine you hav...

Re: No Sound from Bluetooth Headphones

Apropos of nothing, Phan. And completely unhelpful to your problem. I just hung up on the family room wall a beautiful panorama of the '08 dogpile in the midst of an exploding Bank. I think I'll put a Harry and Whitey bobblehead pair in the bookcase facing it. And hanging it still brought a tear. Ke...

USB vs. line-in

Hello again, my little international fraternity of tech-savvy, music-loving friends. I've yet again encountered some static interference (despite using a fresh USB cable, checking various sockets, avoiding hub use, shutting down all other programs etc. etc.). I suspect, as all of you do, this is som...

Re: DeNoise vs. Aud 1.3.12 Noise Removal

Oops. I also meant to ask this: For those who believe vinyl (with the right analog TT and cartridge) has a "warmer, richer" sound than CD - Is it because of the original analog recording and mastering process? Or does it have to do with the final product medium. In other words, by cleaning vinyl thr...

Re: DeNoise vs. Aud 1.3.12 Noise Removal

Thanks.

Why do you all seem to prefer saving as WAV rather than AIFF when working with Macs? Isn't AIFF native to Mac (and so presumably more compatible) or does that not matter in this context?

DeNoise vs. Aud 1.3.12 Noise Removal

Thanks to all who got me onto 1.3.12 and suggested Brian Davies' ClickRepair for vinyl sound restoration. It's re-opened portions of my vinyl collection (about 2,000 LPs) that I thought were gone forever. As to the effectiveness of ClickRepair, I thought Wax might have been exaggerating when he call...

Re: Still getting static, Mac OS 10.4.11

OK, the results are in: 1. I've now recorded about 200 minutes of vinyl with the new USB 2.0 cable. No static. Problem solved. And, like every successful solution, in hindsight it was obvious. 2. I've processed 40 minutes of raw input with ClickRepair. The source material was not good. The results a...

Re: Still getting static, Mac OS 10.4.11

Hello All - A few things. As I write, I'm recording from vinyl through the ART USB interface, and then using a NEW USB 2.0 cable into one of the three native USB sockets in the iMac5,1. The sound is superb, and as of now there has been no static interference. If that continues to hold, you have coll...
