Audacity Forum

I have windows xp and in Audacity I've adjusted the preferences but that doesn't work. When I put what I'm using as 'line in' and I hit the record button, it's just a flat line. Then when I put it on 'microphone' and hit record, if I don't move the mic, it's just a flatline but if I do move it there...
