Problem with dat/hex file

Permanent link to this post Posted by brobby05 » Sun Sep 10, 2017 11:23 pm

Hi,

I'm relatively new at any type of programming but I'm trying to change a team name (what's spoken audibly in a pc baseball game (instead of today's teams are the Oakland Athletics and the Baltimore Orioles, I'd like teams are the Oakland A's and the Baltimore Orioles.) I got the wav file done and converted into a dat file that the game understands but when it plays in the game, it's fine for home games but on the road it says, "today's teams are ... and the Baltimore Orioles. What am I missing here. Could somebody please point me in the right directions somewhere???

Thanks a million!

I know it didn't specifically say so, and you wouldn't know if you got here in one hop from a Google search, but this board is for the Audacity APP. So if you have any good ideas on developing the Audacity Sound Editor, bring it on.

I'm surprised games use DAT sound format. Unless there's more than one, DAT is the consumerized sound channels from Broadcast Television.

I just had a hot flash. Broadcast Television uses 5.1 Dolby surround. If you want surround in your game, that would be a way to avoid having to make your own format.

That may also be where your edit went. If the game is expecting 5.1 Dolby and it's not there, it may give an unstable playback.

I believe you.

I'm not a gamer.

The last game I played, I put down the bird, picked up the stick and turned west.
