VST engineersFilter (fittre)

This VST raises problem under Windows Vista 64 bits and Windows 8.1 64 bits. It does not appear in the list of the effects installed in Audacity 2.1.0. (windows "Editer les scripts " of the menu File, while it appears logically in the VST of the menu “Effects”.

Thanks for all the reports but do please give a link to the effect you are complaining about to make sure we download the same file that you do.

If you mean http://www.vst4free.com/free_vst.php?id=951 yes I agree that effect does not appear in the command list in Edit Chains.

The reason is that Audacity does not detect the effect as “automatable”. If you want to force the effect to appear in the command list you can exit Audacity then open Users<your user name>\AppData\Roaming\Audacity\pluginregistry.cfg and change “EffectAutomatable=0” to “EffectAutomatable=1” for EngineersFilter.

You still won’t be able to set parameters for this effect in Edit Chains. If you add the effect to a Chain, the effect will run at its current settings. So if you change the settings by using the effect in the Effect Menu, the effect will run at those settings when used in a Chain.

This has been fixed in our source code so that the Engineers Filter will appear in the list of Chain commands. The fix will be in our next 2.1.1 release of Audacity.

However the Engineers Filter does not expose its settings properly so if you change its settings from the Effect menu, the settings for use in the Chain will also change to those last used settings. You can press “Edit Parameters” when editing the Chain to change its settings.
