IMPORTER DONNES BRUT

Bonjour,

===============

I’m recording songs with the TASCAM DP-004 recorder.
It delivers only file type “.001”.
So I have a problem when I want to import a “.001” extension file in Audacity.
When I do it, in the flying window that appears and asks encoding, byte order and channels, I don’t change anything that’s proposed (Encoding: Signed 16 bit PCM, Bit order : mode “Big endian” Channels "1 Channel (Mono)).
Then I click on import and, when I want to read the file I can hear a big buzz…

Could you please help me and tell me if I what I’m doing is correct or not ?

I deleted your other post.

There is no such format as “001”. Set Windows to show extensions for known file types: http://windows.microsoft.com/fr-fr/windows/show-hide-file-name-extensions#show-hide-file-name-extensions=windows-vista . Then you can see if the file has WAV extension or not. If it does not have WAV extension, try renaming it to WAV extension and just drag the file into Audacity without using Import Raw Data.

The recorder’s files should be 44100 Hz, 16-bit, mono or stereo WAV. See pages 62 and 99 of the device’s Manual for how to export mono and stereo files from the recorder:
http://tascam-ca.com/content/downloads/products/35/e_dp-004_om_revb_081017_web.pdf .

If you need to use Import Raw, WAV files are normally Little Endian. For 16-bit files, an offset of 0 or 1 should be correct.

If you need to check what format the file is in, you can use MediaInfo:
http://mediainfo.sourceforge.net/en/Download/Windows . You must obtain the version without installer, because the installer may have malware that will damage your computer.
