missing chunks of silence

We record a podcast of the internet with skype, but we all use audacity to record ourselves on our computers.

Out of the 5 hosts, 4 have no issues, but one has chunks of silence automatically taken out making it totally off sync. Tried googling the answer but cannot find anything anywhere. out of 2 hours of recording about 10 min of silence is removed in muliple areas. PLEASE HELP

If everything goes OK that's a totally excellent idea. Where is the podcast?
chunks of silence automatically taken out

Audacity has a tool which can do that.
Audacity > Edit > Preferences > Recording > [_] Sound Activated Recording. Make sure that's turned off.

Also see Transport Menu

Scroll down.
