Describe your sound system. Does it do that when you plug in headphones?

Do the playback (speaker icon) sound meters shift back and forth?

If you are running windows run the built-in channel test:

(These instructions are for Windows 10, other versions are similar but a bit different):

Open “Control Panel”.
Select “Hardware and Sound”
Select “Manage Audio Devices” under “Sound”
Right-click your “speakers” (or whatever your selected audio devices is) and choose “test”
This will produce mi re do from the left speaker followed by do re me from left.

And might also give you one from the right.

Any of that help? It’s fairly standard troubleshooting to split the system in sections and see if all the sections work by themselves. Then connect them little at a time and see where normal operation falls apart.

If you’re a new user, this can seem a little overly complex, but you wouldn’t need to worry about any of this if your system just worked. Having a problem puts you in troubleshooting mode and unfortunately, that happens on line with several different elves across multiple time zones.

Let’s see. If it’s 9PM here that means it’s … 5AM in Manchester??
