Audacity + Audigy2: The solution is

Today we managed to solve the old problem: “Audacity kills Sound after Start. (SB Audigy 2 Platinum)”
https://forum.audacityteam.org/t/audacity-kills-sound-after-start-sb-audigy-2-platinum/29493/1

I thought that had been solved years ago, just by using a more recent version of Debian / Ubuntu.

I found my old Audigy2 and the problem appeared again. On the Audigy SE has no such problem.
Mint 18.2, Audacity 2.1.2

Are you going to tell us how you solved it, or are you saying that the solution was to use a different sound card?

If anyone’s interested, I’ll share a discovery. 1. Launch Audacity. 2. All the sound disappears. 3. In the toolbar “RECORDING DEVICE” (!) choose
SB Audigy 2 Platinum [SB0240P]: p16v (hw:0,4). 4. The sound appears. Then you can specify any device for recording. The sound does not go away.
Please, use.
