Markers tracks steals shorcuts

Hello Guys.

Using Audacity 2.1.2 (see below the system info) on a
Linux xxxxxx 4.4.0-49-generic #70-Ubuntu SMP Fri Nov 11 16:39:33 UTC 2016 i686 i686 i686 GNU/Linux
from ubuntu packages.

Here is my (small) concern.
I mainly use the shortcuts and especially 'r' to start record. That works OK as soon as you DON'T have a marker track on the project.
As soon as you added the markers track it take precedence of the keyboard.
When I strike ''r'" the markers track just "steals" the keyboard and start to write a new marker. Obviously this is not what I want!
I tried various things but nothing works here. Any idea guys how to block the markers track to take keyboard focus for itself ?

Thanks

The behaviour should depend on which track has "focus".
The track with focus is the "current" track - it has a yellow border. The Up/Down cursor keys move focus from one track to another.

If a label track has focus, then that label track should get keyboard input and behave as you describe.
If the label track does not have focus (for example, if an audio track has focus), then the label track should not get the key presses and shorcuts should work.

When 2.1.3 is released there is a new option in Tracks Preferences "Type to create a label". If you uncheck that option, shortcuts won't create a new label even if the yellow focus border is in the label track. The downside is that you must use CTRL + B first to create a new empty label (or use Edit > Paste Text to New Label) if there is text on the system clipboard).
