Recording on 2.0.1 is hyper-fast, then lags behind cursor

Since switching to Linux Mint with Audacity 2.0.1, I have been noticing a problem that sometimes happens when recording. The recording cursor will move forward at hyper-fast speed, recording at least two minutes in about two seconds, then proceed at normal speed with the actual block of a sound that has been recorded lagging a few seconds behind it. As far as I can tell, this problem is random; I’ll stop the recording, retry, and it will not happen the next time. Does anyone know what could be causing this?

(And if the answer is “upgrade your Audacity installation”, is there a way to do that without building from source?)

You missed an important item. Recording what? It’s not unusual for on-line services to act funny if the internet connection isn’t up to real time transmission. I bet if you tried to record a local microphone or other sound source, this problem doesn’t happen. Koz
