Recently switched to Linux and cannot seem to get my external mic recognized and actually need a step by step set up if one is available.

Connect your mic and allow your computer a minute to recognise it before you open Audacity.
Then open Audacity and look in the recording input device box in the Device Toolbar and select the USB option.
