Trying To Install Audacity In WinXP VM

I just started playing around with Oracle’s VM Virtualbox within Linux Mint 13 (Mate). I’ve installed Windows XP successfully and everything seems to work fine so far. Since I’ve been unable to use Audacity for recording (Line In) in Linux, I attempted to install the Windows version in Virtualbox. It installed fine but won’t start. I get the following error message:

C:Program FilesAudacityaudacity.exe

This application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem.

I tried reinstalling but to no avail. Any thoughts and/or advice would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks Steve, that worked. I’m able to record now using Line In after a quicky test, since it’s in a Windows environment. I have a lot of latency right now but I have to set it up properly when I have some time.
