Exporting WAV 16-bit 8000 hz

Hey guys, I’m having a bit of a problem and I haven’t found a solution online yet.

I’m running Audacity 2.1.3 and trying to export a wav file at 16-bit mono 8000 hz. I resampled the clip I recorded into 8000 hz, set everything to mono and 16-bit, and exported signed 16-bit wav file. However, when I look at the info for the exported track, it still says the sample rate is 41000. Has anybody else encountered this issue and how do I fix it?

I’m running OS X El Capitan v 10.11.6 on a MacBook Pro.

Audacity uses the “Project Rate” (lower left corner of the main Audacity window) to determine the sample rate of exported tracks.

The normal procedure would be to leave Audacity’s recording settings at the default 32-bit float / 44100 Hz, select “1 channel (mono)” in the device toolbar, then after recording, change the Project rate to 8000Hz and export as 16-bit WAV.
